FAQ

What does a typical day and week look like?

Although each day is different, we typically spend six hours in the studio, from Monday to Friday. Each week will also include two to three group tours.

Is transportation included?

Because participants come from all over the world, transportation is not included. Once arriving at the airport, there are many ways to get into the city, and we will be happy to provide information about those options. During the courses, most of the tours are within walking distance of the Studios, but on a few occasions, we will share taxis to locations to reduce the individual cost.

When should I book my travel arrangements?

We will notify participants when each course has reached its minimum number of participants, at which point we recommend booking travel as soon as possible.

Are meals included?

We do not include meals because there are so many good restaurants in Rome to explore, and we recommend students take advantage of the opportunity to explore that aspect of the city. We will provide a recommended list of places to eat. There will be two group meals included, one on the first Sunday so that everyone can get to know each other, and one on the last Saturday at a local restaurant.

When should I depart Rome?

We recommend departing anytime after the final Saturday group dinner. Dinner is usually at 6pm. Time varies.

May I receive a refund if I must cancel?

Full refunds are not available once a course reaches its minimum number of participants. Because we must purchase materials, buy museum tickets, pay for housing, and university fees, we cannot provide refunds. In addition, once the course is running, other students will be purchasing airfare, and we cannot cancel. If a course does not meet its minimum number of registrations you will receive a full refund.

Can I buy my art materials in Rome?

Each course has different requirements for materials. Sculpture courses include materials, but not tools. You may bring your own tools, or purchase them in Rome. Painting courses require students to buy the appropriate materials, most of which can be purchased in Rome. However, we suggest, students purchase materials prior to arrival. We will provide paint and mediums for portrait and figure oil painting workshops. We will provide mediums for plain air oil painting workshops, participants must bring or purchase paint. Watercolor participants must bring or purchase materials. All workshop materials lists will be shared to participants when classes reaches the minimum required.

May I bring along guests on tours?

Yes, for a fee of $120, and as long as we have advance notice. Some tours require us to purchase tickets in advance, so we need to know when you register if you will have guests on the tours. We will have a registration for guest form available.

May minors participate in the workshops?

Yes, minors may participate, so long as they are accompanied by a legal guardian. Be aware that many courses utilize nude models. Contact us about your specific situation.
